Report: Raiders cornerback Sean Smith charged with felony assault

The veteran corner who was struggling entering the second season of a 4-year, $40 million deal he signed with the Raiders has now much bigger problems to worry about he has been charged with felony assault for an incident that occurred in during the team's offseason break.According to the TMZ reportOfficials say Smith attacked his sister's boyfriend on July 4 beat and stomped on his head in Pasadena in the early hours. He's been charged with felony assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury and battery with serious bodily injury. If convicted, Smith faces up to 7 years in state prison. Aside from the legal ramifications, there is also always the possibility of an NFL suspension coming, whether he is convicted or not. This isn't Smith's first run in with the law. He was convicted of a DUI in 2014 when he crashed his car into a light post. He pled guilty and served two years probation and a three-game suspension from the NFL.Smith is a 9-year NFL veteran corner.
